Sponsor Me at March for Babies!

The March of Dimes organization, whose “mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. We carry out this mission through research, community services, education, and advocacy to save babies' lives. March of Dimes researchers, volunteers, educators, outreach workers, and advocates work together to give all babies a fighting chance against the threats to their health: prematurity, birth defects, low birth weight “ hosts an annual walk throughout the United States of America to raise awareness and funding.

I was blessed with three healthy babies and when I say healthy I mean 8lbs 9oz, 9lbs 10oz and 10lbs 5oz, (the last one was taken early) and with each I was blessed to leave the hospital with. Each of my brothers children were born healthy as well, so you may ask why I participate in the March of Dime “Walk for Babies”.

Although my families’ birth experiences have been blessed, I have known women who have to leave their babies in the Neonatal ICU and travel back and forth to the hospital each day. Therefore, I walk for them and all of the other parents who spend countless hours traveling back and forth to the hospital, who jump each time the phone rings wondering if it’s bad news, who bring home babies who require countless hours of medical interventions even when they have been released to come home.

My Sorority supports the March of Dimes and every year thousands of members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. raise monies and walk in support of helping the March of Dimes improve infant mortality and fight prematurity. Our youth auxiliaries raise money every November for Prematurity Awareness and each year join forces with their sponsoring chapters to “Walk for Babies”.

In years past, I have been in the front of the pack, last year well let’s just say we weren’t last but close to it. It’s not about where you place, it’s about the cause, it’s about finding a way to bring all babies into this world healthy. So even if you can’t get out to walk lend your support by pledging monies to support me as I join hundreds of others on April 25, 2009 in downtown Atlanta and march for the babies.
